Store Manager, Zibby's Bookshop

We're looking for a phenomenal weekday retail store manager to join our wonderful, small team of passionate, smart booksellers, event planners, and partners at a unique, beautiful bookshop on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. 

Our store organizes books by emotion, interest, and topic, not by genre, and is designed to look like someone's beautiful living room. It's a meeting spot with 3-5 events every week and a loyal following despite only opening in February.

Zibby's Bookshop was founded by Zibby Owens, CEO of Zibby Media, who hosts the daily podcast Moms Don't Have Time to Read Books, runs a publishing house called Zibby Books, launched an online literary lifestyle magazine Zibby Mag, started an education platform Zibby Classes, and runs quarterly retreats through Zibby Retreats. She has thousands of members Zibby's Book Club and thousands more following on social. She is also an author herself and a mom of four. She needs help with the store!

The main requirement is that you have to love books. Like, really love them. Reading or writing them. Another requirement is that you MUST retail management experience. You could have run an H&M for 10 years and not a bookstore which is fine, but you need to know how to manage a team, organize, plan staffing calendars, run the store, and more including troubleshooting the wide range of issues. You need to have complete confidence in your retail management experience. 

A huge plus is bookstore selling experience. The job requires oversight of book ordering, returns, processing, and sales. A customer facing job, this position requires being in the store regularly during the week and working closely with the weekend store manager.

We're hoping to find a longterm partner who can really run the operations of the store. Excellent communication skills are essential plus a kind demeanor.  Collaboration is essential.
